| SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SHRM MEMBERS:
2010 SHRM Foundation Scholarship Program – Application Deadline July 15, 2010 Calling all SHRM members (professional, general or associate) pursing a college degree or professional HR certification – applications are currently being accepted for the SHRM Foundation Scholarship program. This year there will be 20 education awards ($2,000 each) and 80 certification awards ($750 each) for a total of $100,000 given out in 100 awards. Members may apply online at: http://sapphire.shrm.org/Scholarships/Default.aspx Note: SHRM student members are not eligible for this program. The student scholarship program will launch May 1. SHRM Sons & Daughters Scholarship Program – Application Deadline May 15, 2010 SHRM has established a scholarship program to help finance higher education for children of its members. Applicants must be children of national members of SHRM. Applicants may be either high school seniors, high school graduates or first-year college undergraduates enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university. Awards are $1,500 each and may only be used for the first or second year of undergraduate study only. A total of twenty-four (24) scholarships are awarded annually. The AHRA Board of Directors has established the funding of
(2) HR scholarships for 2010: one graduate or PHR/SPHR/GHPR certification
scholarship ($500) and one undergraduate scholarship ($500). THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MAY 15, 2010 Eligibility: Applicants must
either be interested in the field of Human Resources and pursuing a degree in a
Human Resources related field or working full-time in human resources and
pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate college
degree in an HR-related field through an accredited institution of higher
learning or pursuing the PHR/SPHR/GPHR certification. Full-time, part-time,
online and distance learning programs are acceptable. Scholarships are
for college degree programs or to go towards PHR/SPHR/GHPR certification
preparation or test costs, and may not be used to attend any other professional
development seminars or workshops. This scholarship is a one-time award. Undergraduate student applicants must have an interest in
pursuing an HR related degree and an overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point
scale is required. Graduate student applicants must
be enrolled in a Master's Degree or Doctoral program and clearly pursuing
an emphasis area in HR and/or IR and have completed at least 12 hours of
graduate course work with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants preparing for the PHR/SPHR/GPHR
certification must be working full-time in the field of Human Resources.
The recipient must be accepted
and ready to begin his or her studies within six months test following
notification of the award or signed up to take the next scheduled PHR/SPHR/GHPR
certification test. Complete a
Scholarship Application form and send in with
proper documentation:
· an Advisor/Teacher/Professor or SHRM Student Chapter Advisor ·
a local AHRA and/or SHRM professional ·
a reference from a work-related source Selection will be based primarily
on merit, essay and financial need. All applications must be postmarked no
later than May 15, 2010.
Any applications received after the postmark date or do not contain all of the
required documentation will not be considered. All applicants will be notified
of their standing by phone or in writing no later than July 1, 2010 and
scholarship checks will be received no later than August 1, 2010. AHRA
