SHRM’s MembersSHRM is an individual membership organization, and our members include HR professionals with the following titles:
SHRM Local Chapter NetworkSHRM has more than 560 affiliate chapters both in the United States and abroad, and provide additional programming and networking opportunities in your local area. SHRM chapters are autonomous organizations, so it is not automatic that you will be a member of your local chapter when you join SHRM at the national level, and vice versa. Information on how to join you SHRM local chapter is available at www.shrm.org/chapters.

The Foundation promotes research, innovation and the use of research-based knowledge. With an annual budget of approximately $1 million, it funds major research projects that have a direct and practical impact in advancing the HR profession. The Foundation puts out RFP's to the research community and then evaluates the research proposals it receives. Using its "LIVE" criteria: L-Leverage, I-Impact, V-Visibility, E-Enhances the profession, the Foundation selects projects to fund. The Foundation also funds practical publications on specific issues, educational scholarships, the Effective Practice Guidelines series, and online directories of undergraduate and masters degree programs in human resource management.
Scholarships for HR Professionals
Are you a SHRM member pursuing a college degree (HR, business, psychology, etc.) or professional certification? With generous underwriting from the J. J. Keller Foundation, Inc., the SHRM Foundation will award $100,000 in scholarships to SHRM professional members in 2010. The scholarships are allocated equally among the five SHRM geographic regions, which means you are competing only with applicants in your own part of the country. Recipients are selected primarily on merit, and a significant portion of the selection criteria includes HR involvement and future career plans, as well as volunteer activities and leadership experience. Academic scholarships are available to thsoe working toward a graduate or undergraduate college degree in HR or a related field. Certification scholarships are available to those working toward certification (SPHR, GPHR, PHR, or California) and to affiliated SHRM chapters and state councils that are organizing local certification preparation programs. HRCIThe Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) is the leading independent, internationally-recognized certifying body for the HR profession. HRCI certifications require professionals to demonstrate their expertise in the core principles of HR practice and the application of those principles.
