In attendance: Connie Larson, Cathy Pazzelli, Jamie Janezich,
Cheryl Minter, Nancy Tepovich, Holly Waisanen, and Dale Gilbertson
The next AHRA quarterly meeting will be July 12, 2006
at the DNR Office in Grand Rapids. Topic
will be a round table discussion - “HR Employment Law Update”. CEUs will be available for certification for
HR Professionals if speaker and topic finalized 4 weeks prior to meeting. Aimee Klima will be responsible for meeting
criteria for future meetings and the fall workshop.
Connie Larson noted that AHRA bylaws need to be
updated this year and submitted to SHRM prior to AHRA members voting on
changes.
The October seminar which will be held on October 4 at
the Mt. Iron Community Center. A
brochure will be ready by the July AHRA quarterly meeting. It will cost about $3000 for 100 people to
attend. Registration fee is $10.00 for
AHRA members and $15.00 for non-members.
A motion by Dale Gilbertson for AHRA to contribute $1000 for the October
conference. A second by Holly Waisanen,
motion passed. The subcommittee will
secure donations and sponsorships to help defray the costs. The Workforce Center wants to be
involved. A “Save the Day” postcard will
be mailed to potential attendees by the end of July.
The board discussed making a contribution to the SHRM
Foundation which provides scholarships and conducts major research
projects. A motion to send them $50.00
was made by Cheryl Minter. A second by
Cathy Pazzelli, motion passed.
AHRA has applied for a tax exempt number. Reviewed requirements to file taxes
annually. SRHM recommended that an
outside accountant/CPA handle this for us.
Connie will look into this.
Cathy gave a report on the website status. Using a template, Connie created a
preliminary sample which she will upload for members to view before the July
meeting. Holly suggested AHRA members
add this web address to their business cards.

- Connie couldn’t attend the MN SHRM council meeting at Brainerd
- Jamie would like members to volunteer the Annual MN SHRM
Conference October 15-17.
- SHRM has developed a speakers bureau –
check out SHRM.org/speakers
- the program “CEO Exchange” which airs an PBS stations
Other issues discussed: co-sponsor a ‘business after hours”, take
pictures at AHRA meetings to publish in area newspapers, develop meeting
evaluations. Holly will plan an
icebreaker for the July meeting.
