Meeting Minutes
July 11, 20067
10:00 am Delta Dental,
Cathy Pazzelli, President,
opened the meeting with self-introductions.
Twenty-one people were in attendance.
Vicki Nelson, Educator for Range Women’s Advocates was the guest
speaker. Her topic was “Domestic
Violence: It IS Your Business” which
focused on the victim.
A representative from the NE
MN Office of Job Training presented information on a program that targeted
small businesses – The Worker Training Fund.
BUSINESS MEETING:
Treasurer’s Report - Nancy Tepovich reported a balance of $3,427.71
between the two checking accounts (Wells Fargo and Queen City Federal).
Membership Report – Karen Zupancich reported we have 44 paid
members. Becky Seeley and Connie Larson
were selected in a random drawing to have their MN SHRM conference fee paid by
AHRA.
Legislative Update - Paul Carlson gave an update on the following legal
hot topics:
* SHRM involvement has made a difference in several
legislative issues.
* Members were polled as to their interest in
participating in “A Day at the Capital”.
This issue will be revisited in October.
* HR issues can be viewed on the SHRM website.
HR All-Day Seminar Update – the committee has four speakers for the day. Subjects include: wage & hour; FMLA/ADA, Workforce Issues;
De-escalating Employees The cost is $25/members and $30/non-members. There will be twenty exhibitors. Door prizes are being secured.
AHRA Website - we are looking for any comments on the site. It’s definitely a good start to a fantastic
website.
CEU’s – our request for continuing education credits (HRCI
credits) was denied for this meeting’s speaker.
Jamie Janezich distributed a
2007 survey. Members were requested to
return the completed forms to him by August 1.
He will tabulate the results.
Jamie shared information about area chambers concerns on sharing AHRA
information with their members as AHRA is not a chamber member.
The new SHRM logo was
launched during the June conference. The
deadline for the SHRM scholarship is
Next meeting will be October
24th: Range Center, Inc. in
Chisholm offered to host the meeting. The topic - “Diversity”.
