Meeting called to order at
State SHRM Conference (October 13 & 14)
Our chapter will donate a basket for the SHRM Conference for a cost of $100, but valued at more. Dale Gilbertson will coordinate putting together the basket filled with items centered on the “northern” theme and to include other items such as hotel stay package at Fortune Bay, Canelakes candies, etc. The basket will be ready by the day conference and displayed at the AHRA booth. Raffle tickets will be available for those who want to purchase a chance to win (need not be present to win). Motion to spend $100 on basket by Connie Larson, seconded by Jen Tiedeman passed unanimously.
Our chapter has also been asked to volunteer either introducing speakers or manning registration table at the conference. Jamie will forward information to the group as he gets more information.
Each year AHRA has given away a registration for the State SHRM conference. Next year this should be taken care of at the July meeting. This year an e-mail blast will be sent our to members to see who is interested in participating in the drawing. Amy Klima made a motion that we approve giving away one registration fee for the conference ($299), seconded by Jill Klapach and passed unanimously. Terri Nystrom will send out e-mails to see who is interested with a deadline date noted, hold the drawing and inform the group who won.
Scholarships:
No interest in scholarships this year but may expect more interest next year due to increased opportunities in our area for human resource education (Bethel, St. Mary’s, etc.) Connie Larson made a motion to offer two SHRM memberships and two AHRA memberships to be given away at the day conference and to re-explore the scholarship offerings for next year at the next board meeting. Seconded by Terri Nystrom and passed unanimously.
Donation to SHRM foundation:
Jennifer Tiedeman made a motion that our chapter make a $50 donation to the SHRM foundation, which helps us with our CAPS report and we receive a small amount of money back from the donation. Amy Klima seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

October 22nd Quarterly Meeting –
Program is “Becoming our Best: Recruiting and Working to Employee Strengths”
Amy Klima will also talk about PHRA certification at this meeting. We will ask attendees to bring either a food donation or cash donation for the food shelf to this meeting. We will inform everyone in the e-mail reminder that is sent about the meeting.
Elections:
Elections will be held at the October quarterly meeting. Connie has created a format for the election process and will assist Terri Nystrom in the communication and ballot process.
AHRA Day Conference:
To date, 73 have registered under the early bird
registration category. Attendance is
expected to be very good for the conference.
There are also 18 vendor booths scheduled to attend the conference, 9 at
the highest vendor level. Donations are
coming in slowly. The group was asked to
help get donated items. A “last chance
to register” reminder will be sent out, along with a call to those on the
e-mail for donation items. Jill Klapach volunteered to pick up gift certificates needed for
the conference. Terri Nystrom will pick up 2 - $50 gift certificates from The Whistling
Bird, since there was a special request from a vendor that this be their
sponsored giveaway. The caterer (Country
Kitchen) is very excited about the event.
They are providing their services at a reduced fee this year, hoping to
get the account again next year (at their regular price). The menu was discussed. Jen Tiedeman will
ask about what happens with the leftovers and if we get to keep, we will donate
to the soup kitchen. Connie will do the
agenda to hand out. Speakers are
responsible for their own handouts.
Jamie J will bring pens, bags and portfolios. Terri N will also bring bags for vendor
items. Connie will do the nametags. Vendors will start setting up around

Idea was brought up for our chapter to look for ways to
volunteer in the communities we serve by participating in either
soup kitchens, habitat for humanity, and the like. It was also discussed that our chapter could
