Ted Schick from Schick Corporate Training will discuss best practices in leadership including:
    • Leadership starts with the individual. You can’t lead others if you can’t lead yourself. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to keep one’s composure and regulate one’s moods and their impact on others.
    • Correlation between parenting and leadership—structure, feedback, boundaries, discipline, attention

    • How we treat our employees. With respect to accountability, treating all the same but with respect to motivation, motivating differently.
    • Principles of Servant Leadership—serving our people, meeting their needs, removing obstacles in their workday.
    • Giving feedback. From giving praise to handling disciplinary issues. Intervene early and often. Having real conversations. +, -, +
    • Developing and challenging our people. Theories of motivation. The importance of mentoring and teaching.
    • Being decisive. The importance of decision making. Time to gather input and time to act.
    • Vision. Tactical day-to-day firefighting leadership versus keeping our head up and staying the course of our future.

  • 12:20 - 1:20 KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Recess Break

The Laughing Stockbroker, David Goldman, will present a humorous look at the importance of laughter and recess breaks in the work place.  Did you know that the average adult laughs 15 times each day but the average child laughs over 400 times each day? Who will ruin it for them as they get older? We will. We say things like, “Careful someone could lose an eye!” Really? How many eight-year old pirates have you seen running around? Kids know how to have fun. They take recess breaks every day. We take coffee breaks and load up on sugar and caffeine then back to the cube. Research proves that taking a brief recess break enables us to blow off steam, increase our ability to create, and boosts productivity. Learn the importance of "recess breaks" in the workplace to learn to work betters as a team members, which helps boost morale and, in the end, makes your organization more profitable.
